Hay Waste

Unknown to me at the time we “temporarily” put up the inside of the goats barn,

I found my solution to hay waste!

The goats actually figured this out and I went with it because it just made sense.

They have been eating this way for about a year now

Lena feeding the girls & Blue We keep our hay stored on the pallets behind the goat area of the barn. Stays dry and out of reach.

Now when we work to finish the barn permanently, we will use this same method all the way down and in the 2 adjoining pens that run to the west of this “big” barn.  The walkway is already set up for them and there will be no storage behind the walk for those 2 pens, only the storage in the big barn, but it’s enough.  I have plans for some additions that I think will add to the coolness of this whole deal not only for me but for the goats too! This has really made a HUGE difference in the amount of hay wasted. This also keeps us dry in the weather when feeding & satisfies their need to eat what’s on the other side of the fence – teeheehee
